The Ice Maiden
"JOHANNA - Under the Ice" is a small film directed by British photographer Ian Derry about free diving under the Artic Ice performed by the Finnish free diver Johanna Nordblad popularly known as the "Ice Maiden" or "Mermaid in the Ice". Apart from numerous other free diving accolades, her name to fame was the female world record for diving 50m under the ice while only wearing a swimsuit and mask, which this film so elgantly captures. She took to free diving under ice after she underwent ice-therapy as a treatment for her leg after a bicycle accident in 2010.
