Chanakya(b:374BCE - d:283BCE) is one of the prominent figures from Indian history. He was known to be a pioneer in the fields of Economics and Political Science and has authored two renonwed treatise - Arthashastra(Economics) and ChankayaNiti(on life and living). He is credited with assisting the Mauryan emperor Chandragupta in his rise to power and played a significant role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire. He is also known by the names Kauแนญilya or Vishnugupta.

The story of Chanakya is depicted in a 47-part Indian television historical drama written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi that was originally telecast on National Television(Doordarshan) from 8Sept1991 to 9Aug1992, wherein Dr.Dwivedi played the title role of "Chanakya".
